lol, Yeah, I'm fine... I was at a client's office and I was watching him out my window. He was pushing a carriage full of bottles. He went around to all the doors on my car to check if one was open... hahha
Yes I did. My parking spot for work is in an alley. There's homeless people ALWAYS going through the trash dumpsters out there. And I ALWAYS have empty bottles or cans in my car. So I give them to the guys that are trashpicking. They're SO HAPPY when I hand them off. Even if they can't speak english, the smile they get on their face is ... well priceless I guess. I've never given the same homeless person bottles more than once. I feel if I do that, they will start to hover or try to come back more and more. So if I see a familiar looking one there, I don't offer.
I also buy roses for my fiance from the homeless guys at the Mass Ave / Route 93 Intersection in Boston. At least those guys and the trash pickers are trying. I will never help anyone that walks up to me begging for help. Beggers work harder than the trash pickers and they make less money. The Rose guys have a little group going to buy enough for food and possibly some drugs. But I mean $15 for eight roses... that's not bad! They buy them for $10 per dozen, and they split them up into eights and fours. $15 for 8 or $10 for 4. So every dozen gets sold for $25. And if you ask them, they WILL sell you the 8 for $10! (yes, I am ashamed... I ask every time.. LOL!) But that's business I guess.
The only thing I don't like about the roses thing is that they make enough money off those things to go buy drugs. That's what I just have to ignore if I don't know what's going to happen with my money. Half the guys on that corner all have rotted teeth like they're doing on the Meth crap. That is the main reason I ask for "the discount."
Mercy?? Are you shitting me? 95% of those people end up that way because they decided only to work as hard as they are now AFTER they lost EVERYTHING and AFTER they tried asking for pocket change for 20 some-odd years and got sick of rejection. The other 5% are from foreclosures cuz of this gay economy.
90% of those 95% above have some sort of addiction. Whether it be Alcohol, heroine, crack, meth, or fast food... the money they collect does not go into an account of some sort to gain interest or be saved. About 15% of those 90% try hard enough and earn about $400 a month. So that's about $13 a day. Using the Dollar menu for a month for 3 meals a day would allow them to save about $5 per day. Now if they were able to save up $150 per month... that would help them gain some interest if there were some company out there FOR the homeless that allowed them to gain say 25 - 50 percent interest per year! How sweet would THAT be for them if that sort of company existed?!
