They are naturally bullies, and feel the need to dominate other people, countries, etc. After all, they're the sons and daughters of colonists and slaveholders. They can't or won't admit that they believe themselves to be a cut above minorities; it's their way of doing things or the highway (meaning you're ridiculed or insulted for doing things differently). I think Charles Barkely put it best when talking about whites- he said you talk with a rich white person and they treat you with respect, talk to you as equals....you talk with with some poor white people, they'll call you a N*gger and mean it. What about women (any race)? When colleges and businesses need to fill minority quotas, it "Minorities and Women" as part of equal opportunity. That's because women have been treated as second class citizens forever. No right to vote until around 1920. Glass ceilings. And there are an awful lot of us of all races. Well, alot has changed since the 20's and alot more women are out there in the workforce in key exectutive roles, but only a disproportionate few. So have I sat back and cried about it? No, I go about my career working harder and smarter and forget about sexism. I have been promoted several times, have had the pleasure of being managed by both sexes and have learned from both. Fact is I have been moving forward blind to sexism and it has served me well. You should do the same.

These days I try my best not to encourage any of this. I've had more than one occasion with a white colleague who goes, "Don't you hate it when black people..." (or mexican people...). If I nod my head like 'go on', they take it to mean "yes, I share your racist outrage", and I swear five minutes later it feels like I'm at a Hitler rally. Try looking at your health insurance provider, your pharmaceutical developer. Unlike lawyers and other paid professionals, I have little to no say in what you get charged. As a doctor, I already get paid far less for the long hours and care I provide. It may be hard to believe but I still drive my 1989 Honda Accord with over 229k miles. I park it next to BMW's and Benz and not once have I ever wished for one. Id rather put my children through college and help the average Joe make sure his stay healthy.
