I'm wondering how users of muttr feel that post anonymously. Do you guys do that so you aren't flamed for your opinions or you aren't tracked etc? Or is there possibly another reason for it? Curious since I don't really see many people posting with actual names.

Well congratulations on joining us. I think it would be good for some posters to know people are paying attention. other than random anons. I would hope it helps the community.

If someone is being exceptionally foolish, I'll post on their thread anon simply to avoid some bitter flame war or someone going stalker-status on something I may post at a later date. A lot of people are petty and irrational online.

Another reason is because it's not entirely impossible for someone to create a pattern from posts, painting a picture of who someone is in real life, I don't need that type of attention.

The most obvious reasons is because sometimes the feeling of wearing a mask on anonymity, and broadcasting some cathartic rant/rave on a forum just feels more secure.

Just a heads up, my muttrs are more muttrs than confessions and rants about things. :/

Yeah, I can see where you're coming from. I'd like to avoid flame wars and the works. Some things I can post with my user name, but some I only feel comfortable posting as anon.

It's all good AlalaSkull. =)

Yeah that makes sense too. I kinda feel people with accounts will be judged harder than those who are anon. Plus, anon's that get a grudge can always follow and "you're an idiot" flame and spam everything of yours.

When creating Muttr we really wanted to provide a safe venue where anyone can speak his or her mind. I mean lets face it, in today's society its very difficult to simply speak what's on your mind without having someone jump down your throat over it with torches and pitch forks in hand.

Sadly because of this, you end up stuck and unable to say anything at all. If on other popular social sites you say the wrong thing you can lose your job, get kicked out of school, threatened with a lawsuit, or worse. When that happens you're left more frustrated than ever and have nowhere to turn...

The beauty of Muttr is that you're always able to retain a level of anonymity that removes the threat of public scrutiny and provides a level of safety you can not find anywhere else on the web. After all, when you have something you need to get off your chest, it sure does feel good to do it!

I should also point out that the community here never ceases to amaze us with the honest, genuine advice and care people put into their comments. Thank you Muttr community, you're amazing :)
