I don't know what to belive... I belive in God and Jesus and all that stuff....
But when I watch stuff about evolution on history channel, it makes sense... and I just don't know what to belive...

You don't have to believe one or the other.

But I must ask you...why is it important for you to believe in God and Jesus "and all that stuff"? Do you HONESTLY believe in Heaven and Hell? Do you REALLY think they are plausible?

Also, if you saw it on the HISTORY CHANNEL, it would make even more sense if you saw it on the SCIENCE channel. The History Channel goes off the deep end sometimes.

You don't have to believe in anything. Just take a look at the evidence and come to your own conclusion.

if you dont take the bible too literally then you can believe both eveloution surely is evidence of an intellegent creator who left things to develop,

#1, I belive in hell... and if there is a hell, there's probably a heaven too...

#2, I don't think we have the science channel... I've checked all the channels close to where we have history channel... the sciense channel is not there atleast...

I think that God might have created the universe through the big bang... Then he made life forms... and they evolved...
I think people might have some sort of contact with God... But I don't think he does interfere with our world... not anymore atleast....

Well, you see that the big bang and evolution have evidence to support them.

So now, what makes you certain of hell and God?

Almo, if you think about Evolution and the Big Bang THEORY through logically, it seems more like a religion than anything else. Doesn't it take more faith to believe in this 'science', than it does to believe in Christianity?

Faith is believing without evidence. The scientific method will never ask this of you. It is inherently built to remove bias from the experiment. Scientists are fallible but the scientific method is the only way to sift through the heaps of fallacies in human nature.

The big bang is observable for many reasons; one being the galactic red shift which shows the universe expanding away from a singularity.

Evolution has heaps of evidence.

The most religion can do is point and say "You don't know this yet." Until we do. Then it has to retract it's previous statements. Look at what they did to Galileo. But this is never positive evidence FOR god.

I used to be like you, Almo. No one can help you with the confliction you are dealing with. You have to discover for yourself what you believe.

I'm sure you are all well aware of what I discovered. Reading the bible was the first step for me...and I mean actually reading it and realizing the disgusting and horrible things that are in it. Then as I got older, I started learning more about simple science - astronomy, things about the human body, nature, etc. And it is all beautiful.

I'm not here to argue or sway, but if you have any questions about anything, ask them. I'm not saying to ask me specifically, just that if you are curious, don't be afraid to ask questions. I hope you find some peace for yourself one day and that you do not feel so conflicted.

No she was saying that she used to be Christian and became atheist. We use like for like way too many things ;)

A theist is someone who believes in a specific doctrine; be it Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Paganism, Greek Gods etc.

A deist is someone who says that God had a proverbial hand in the beginning, started the universe and then left. He doesn't answer your prayers, intervene in life or do anything that you would be able to see. Quite an unprovable philosophy but something that was very common for America's forefathers.
